Upon invitation by the Global Financial Markets Center and Professor Steven Schwarcz of Duke University School of Law, Prof. Lingyun Gao gave a lecture to the students and faculty of Duke on April 3, 2019 on The Commercial Use of Trusts in China. During the lecture, Prof. Gao introduced the structure and function of commercial trusts used in securitization transactions in China, analyzed the differences between Chinese practice and the structured finance in the United States, and discussed some fundamental issues of common law trust with Prof. Schwarcz afterwards.

 Prof. Gao also had a talk to some faculty members and research fellows of New York University School of Law on March 12, 2019 on “Regulating Trusts through the Civil Code.”

 In the recent decade, Prof. Gao has been doing research on comparative trust law and has lectured in various foreign law schools and local bar association. Prof. Gao introduced the Chinese trust law system in these lectures and suggested the scholars and practitioners in international financial area to keep an open mind to accept the different concepts and features of trusts. Meanwhile, Prof. Gao has also devoted to researching how to make the Chinese trust law better serve the development in both the civil and commercial areas in China.
